Behind the Scenes
How bandwidth sharing works
When you run Orbitly, the app allocates a small portion of your internet connection to relay data requests from verified businesses. Here's the process:
- A business client sends a request through the Orbitly network
- The request is routed through your device's internet connection
- The response is returned to the business client
- You earn money for the bandwidth used
What kind of requests?
Typical use cases include:
- Ad verification — brands checking that their ads appear correctly
- Price monitoring — retailers comparing prices across regions
- SEO research — companies analyzing search results
- Content compliance — verifying content availability in different locations
How much bandwidth is used?
Orbitly uses only a fraction of your connection. Most users report no noticeable difference in their regular internet speed. The app is designed to prioritize your own traffic and only use truly idle bandwidth.
